Procedure

1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

Begin by asking students what their favorite things are. Write their responses on the whiteboard or chart paper. If students are reluctant to share, you can start by sharing your own favorite things.

2. Listening activity (10 minutes)

Play a short audio recording of someone talking about their favorite things. Ask students to listen for the following information:
What are the person's favorite things?
Why are these things their favorite?

After students have listened to the recording, ask them to share what they heard. Write their responses on the whiteboard or chart paper.

3. Speaking activity (15 minutes)

Divide students into small groups. Give each group a set of pictures of different objects or activities. Ask students to choose their favorite picture and then describe it to their group members. They should use adjectives and descriptive language to help their group members guess which picture they chose.

After students have had a chance to describe their pictures, ask each group to share their favorite picture with the class. The class should try to guess which picture the group chose.

4. Reading activity (10 minutes)

Pass out a short text to each student. The text should be about someone's favorite things. Ask students to read the text and then answer the following questions:
What are the person's favorite things?
Why are these things their favorite?

After students have had a chance to read the text and answer the questions, ask them to share their answers with the class.

5. Writing activity (15 minutes)

Ask students to write a short paragraph about their favorite things. They should use the following questions to help them get started:
What are your favorite things?
Why are these things your favorite?

After students have finished writing their paragraphs, ask them to share their work with the class.

6. Assessment

Assess students based on their participation in the activities, their ability to describe their favorite things, and their writing skills.

Differentiation

This lesson plan can be differentiated for students of all levels. For example, you can provide students with more support during the listening and reading activities. You can also provide students with a word bank to help them write their paragraphs.

Extension

This lesson plan can be extended by having students research their favorite things. They can find out more information about the history, culture, or science behind their favorite things. They can also share their findings with the class.
